Context

In the midst of the COVID pandemic, people with disabilities suffered disproportionately from isolation due to social distancing. With limited and unequal access to digital distance learning tools and information, many people with disabilities experienced a significant deterioration in their quality of life. With this, ADILE aimed to boost the empowerment and social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) by promoting the accessibility of ICT tools for distance learning. The project aimed to:

  1. Define an online educational pathway for PWDs, focused on acquiring knowledge and skills in the field of active citizenship, media literacy, democratic values, and exercise of rights.
  2. Develop an accessible online educational platform dedicated to PWDs in easy-to-read language to foster equal opportunities for distance learning.
  3. Define a European distance learning model for PWDs.
Aim of the event

This online mulitplier event intends to bring together social service providers, people with intellectual disabilities, and other relevant stakeholders interested in accessibility, online distance learning, and inclusive education. It has three main objectives:

  1. To discuss the lessons learnt and developments from the ADILE project

  2. To jointly share and discuss the experiences and challenges of developing online platforms for persons with intellectual disabilities

  3. To exchange knowledge and good practices regarding online learning platforms for persons with disabilities
