UNIC workshop: Service providers as social entrepreneurs through a personal budgets model
Facilitating the transition to user-centred funding models in long-term care, such as Personal Budgets, is the beating heart of the UNIC project.
With their second Belgian Transferability Workshop, UNIC will demonstrate how service providers can become social entrepreneurs through a personal budgets model on 7th December 2022 in Brussels and online.
The workshop will take place in a hybrid format. In-person participation will be held at the EASPD office in Brussels, Belgium.

The project aims to:
- develop tools to help service users, service providers, and public authorities to implement a user-centred funding model in long-term care and support.
- explore how the Personal Budget system can help persons who receive long-term care and support to actively particpate in organising their own support.
In their workshop, they will analyse the transition from a traditional funding model to a personal budgets one from the service providers' perspective in the region of Flanders. It will then focus on the opportunities that this transition has brought, as well as its challenges. For example, this transition supported service providers in becoming social entrepreneurs. The workshop will finish on a high, as the UNIC project will present the UNIC Service Delivery Tool, which aims to support service providers in their move towards a more person-centred approach to care and support.
