Towards the full realisation of sexual rights of young persons with intellectual disabilities and mental health conditions via Supported Decision Making
Sexuality is a basic human need, but persons with disabilities still do not have full and equal access to sexual and reproductive health services and rights.
Under the EU co-funded project SMARTS ("Supports Me About my Sexual Rights"), guidance has been developed on how to better support persons with intellectual disabilities and young persons with mental health conditions to make their own decisions about their sexuality, using the Supported Decision Making (SDM) approach.
The aim of this event is to use the results produced in the framework of this project and to advance the discussion by involving various stakeholders, as well as political representatives. Young persons with intellectual disabilities, caregivers, service providers, families, and organisations working in this field are particularly encouraged to participate.
The event will take place at Mundo-j, Rue de l'Industrie 10, 1000 Brussels on Friday, 23 June from 09:00-11:00.
Please email Nina Kozlowitz, Learning and Development Officer at EASPD, to confirm your attendance, along with any accessibility or dietary requirements.
