Teaching hygiene to children with autism through games!

The ECI Member Forum is hosting an event to introduce the "Ben Le Koala" mobile app that teaches children with autism basic tasks through fun games.

Playing games has become much more than just being a source of entertainment. It can be a great medium to teach children how to maintain hygiene and do basic chores that make up our daily routines. This responsibility often falls on parents and it can be hard to teach little kids boring yet important tasks.

The EASPD Member Forum on Early Childhood Intervention is hosting an online event on 25 September at 10:00 CEST to introduce the Ben Le Koala mobile application. The creators of this app, Signes de sens will explain why this app is beneficial and how to use it. The experts will take us through all the features and there will also be time for questions and discussions. Language interpretation in French and English will be available.

Ben Le Koala (Ben the Koala) is a mobile application that makes these chores fun and easy to learn through a variety of games that can be played by children with and without disabilities! The app is suitable for children above the age of 3 and teaches them how to do many things like brushing their teeth, making a fruit salad, washing their hands and more. It focuses on children with autism and includes a step-by-step guide that helps break down the tasks. However it can also be used for children without disabilities. Through its fun videos and engaging animations of a Koala bear, children can quickly pick up these basic tasks. It was also made with inputs from parents, care givers, children with autism and teachers.
