EHECADI project kicks off online to create European Health Final Dissertation with international focus

The European Health Care Final Dissertation (EHECADI) project kicked off online on 24th February. Through the development of International Final Graduate Dissertations the project will equip students with the skills to work in an interdisciplinary and evidence-based way to take up the challenges of their future practice.

A key challenge higher education institutions (HEIs) face today is the promotion of equal opportunities among graduates, to enhance their employability. HEIs must provide core educational elements which allow all the students to tackle our globalized and constantly changing 21st-century societies.

Funded by Erasmus+, the project brings together 8 partners to support healthcare students from different disciplines (nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and nutrition and dietetics) to address broad societal health issues such as healthcare equity, epidemic preparedness, underinvestment in healthcare workers, health needs of migrant populations.

To do this the project the project will develop the following materials:

  1. An online Knowledge hub which will host all of the final materials of the EHECADI project.
  2. A co-designed Virtual Community of Practice that will share knowledge between academia and other stakeholders as well as detect societal needs and steer the international final graduate dissertations towards them.
  3. A co-designed digital open course for students that will enhance responsible research, the acquisition of digital and transversal skills through the length of the degree length. The course will follow the principles of universal design and it will empower students to be global-minded citizens, more sensitized towards societal needs, and with easier access to employment.
  4. A set of guidelines for students, teachers, and institutions to support the use of the International Final Graduate Dissertation.

Today’s new generation of students will be sensitized to current societal challenges and provided with the necessary skills to work in an interdisciplinary and evidence-based way to overcome these challenges. The kick-off meeting provided the partners: Fundacio Universitaria Balmes (Coordinator); Turun Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy; European University Cyprus; Waterford Institute Of Technology; Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa; Fundació TICSalut; ODISEE; European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities, with the opportunity to discuss the first step of the implementation of the project’s outputs.
