EASPD signs new Memorandum of Understanding with European Platform for Sport Innovation
Do you play a sport? Maybe you like to run, swim, play football, or simply enjoy taking a walk in the park. Regardless of the type of activity you enjoy, sport and physical activity is a foundation for personal, social and educational development. Sport and physical activity can also motivate social inclusion and integration.
Everyone, including persons with disabilities, has a right to enjoy and participate in sporting activities. This right is enshrined in Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). In our communities today however, many sporting structures both at a recreational and professional level are not inclusive and accommodating to all.
Innovation and partnership stand at the centre of creating more inclusive and diverse spaces in sport. With this in mind, EASPD is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between EASPD and the European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI). EPSI is a membership-based networking organisation, focused on innovation in the fields of sport, leisure, health and tourism. The organisation’s members include national sports and innovation networks, who together represent the ecosystem-sports-innovation partners throughout the EU.
Moving forward EASPD and EPSI will exchange on relevant information and news pertaining to innovation in sport and disability, as well as explore potential project opportunities and raise awareness of key events.
