To recognise and award the efforts made by various cities across Europe to be more accessible for people with disabilities, the European Commission along with the European Disability Forum.

Cities in Europe that have made massive improvement in their accessibility standards in the city do not only get recognition, but also through these awards will be able to learn about various steps taken by other cities to become more accessible. The winners of these awards will receive financial rewards along with winning the prestigious Access City Award.
