Within the framework of the Lighthouse Network, the Member Forum on Workforce Development and Human Resources led by Social Care Training, focused on transforming the European Care Certificate (ECC) training into a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) to broaden accessibility. The ECC is originally an in-person qualification developed to cover the basic knowledge that is required for an individual to work in a health and social care setting.

To make it more accessible the course now offers an online version on the EASPD's e-learning platform, the Knowledge Hub, upon free registration on the platform. It covers fundamental social care learning outcomes. Currently available in English, the MOOC will be translated into other languages to reach a wider audience in the social sector.
