Share your insights on undocumented migrants and disability

PICUM is researching the experiences of undocumented people with disabilities in Europe. Answer their survey by 31 July 2024.

There is limited information on the number of undocumented people in Europe and the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) reports that there are no figures on the number of undocumented people in Europe with disabilities. At the same time, the challenges undocumented migrants face are likely to be exacerbated for undocumented people simultaneously negotiating disability and their residence status. Living without regular status may have a long-term impact on the mental and physical health of an undocumented person and their family. To address this gap, PICUM is researching the experiences of undocumented people with disabilities and their families in Europe. They invite you to share your insights by completing this survey, if possible by 31 July 2024. For any questions, reach out to Louise Bonneau (louise.bonneau@picum.org).

Why your input matters: There is little information and evidence on the experiences of undocumented people with disabilities. Since 2011, the European Union has been bound by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). In 2025, the EU will enter into dialogue with the CRPD Committee to review progress of implementation. This is a key moment to highlight the challenges faced by undocumented migrants with disabilities in the EU.

How your information will be used: Your insights will help PICUM create a briefing on undocumented people with disabilities. This briefing will also contribute to the EU's review by the UN CRPD next year.

How to Complete the Survey:
When completing the survey below, please include any relevant reports or sources where possible. The reports do not need to be in English, feel free to share reports in your language,
Detailed information is not necessary; any insights you provide, no matter how brief, are highly valued.
