EASPD Policy Café: EU Disability Card

Join us on 8th May for a Policy Café on accessing social services through the EU Disability Card!

The EU Disability Card has been alot in discussion amongst the EU institutions for the past year for its potential, complexities and need for persons with disabilities in the EU.

EASPD is hosting a Policy Café on 8th May with the European Disability Forum for our members. This one hour session will help us understand the potential the EU Disability Card holds for persons with disabilities to access social services across Europe.

The Card will serve as proof of disability across the EU, granting equal access to special conditions and preferential treatment for people with disabilities when visiting any EU country. This may include services like transportation, cultural events, museums, and recreational facilities such as sports centres and amusement parks. This initiative moves us closer to cross-EU mobility for many people with disabilities. It could also facilitate their access to social services, social protection, and employment services in the future.
