Unlocking the Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Social Services

Description:
In the context of global technological transformation, the European Commission has the ambition to make Europe an "AI continent". Investing in the potential of AI in social services, especially through responsible and inclusive AI, is not only a social imperative, but also a strategic investment in Europe’s long-term competitiveness.
A technology-enabled social care and support environment can improve working conditions and attractiveness of the sector, reduce administrative burdens, support workforce participation (particularly for women and other informal carers), and enable people to live independently for longer. It can also enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public spending, helping systems better manage resources while maintaining or improving quality.
By embedding inclusive, ethical AI within social services, the EU can become a global leader in setting standards for human-centric technology. This would result in a stronger position in the digital economy while advancing EU's commitments under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
