Beyond Digits: Co-productive Financial Education
Known as financial literacy, having the skills and knowledge to make informed money decisions is pivotal for individuals to lead independent lives with higher levels of well-being.
Supporting individuals who are neurodivergent to gain financial literacy and management skills can promote their participation in society as well as economic stability
Aims
The Beyond Digits project aims to promote the financial literacy of neurodivergent adults by developing accessible and inclusive financial training materials for adult learners and their educators.
The project also aims to improve the competencies, including the digital skills, of educators and other adult learning and guidance staff to deliver inclusive and learning content.
In particular, the project aims to:
- Remove barriers to adult education.
- Enhance financial literacy for individuals with Developmental Disabilities and/or Intellectual Disabilities (DD/ID).
- Provide quality, effective and free access tools for educators working with people who are neurodivergent.
- Upskill professionals working with people with DD/ID with a focus on increasing their capacity to use digital tools in their everyday practice.

Activities
- The project will develop a complete and comprehensive Training Toolkit that will include:
- Tailored training materials for people with DD/ID, including a mobile app, an educational digital game, and non-digital material.
- A manual for the digital tools, including guidance on specific digital skills.
- A handbook for professionals and educators working with individuals with DD/ID on how to use the specialised training materials.
- Provide training to professionals and educators who work with people with DD/ID on how to use these technologies as a part of their practice when teaching financial literacy.
- Pilot and evaluate the materials with the end users, people with DD/ID.
- Launch digitised online modules and an online open-access platform providing all the material for free.
- Develop accessibility guidelines.
