Senior Project Officer (18 months)

The Senior Project Officer will contribute to the implementation of an emergency response action that will support young children at risk or with developmental difficulties who have been affected by the war on Ukraine.

Job description

EASPD is looking for a Senior Project Officer who can contribute to the implementation of an emergency response action that will support young children at risk or with developmental difficulties who have been affected by the war on Ukraine.

Working within a team at EASPD’s office in Brussels, the selected candidate with be responsible for implementing an emergency action with international partners. The project aims to provide young Ukrainian children at risk of or with developmental difficulties and their families who have been displaced by the war, with the support that they need in their host countries. This work will be completed under the direction of EASPD’s Secretary General and the Head of Project Development.

Tasks will include:

  • Coordinating with national partners who are working on the ground to support children with disabilities from Ukraine and their families.
  • Supporting the development of local trainings for para specialists in the field of Early Childhood Intervention (ECI).
  • Contributing to awareness raising activities of the national and European challenges to ECI services.
  • Conducting research into the national capacity of partner research to respond to children with disability coming from Ukraine.
  • Liaising with project funders to ensure the smooth implementation of the project in a timely manner.
  • Administrative tasks linked to the project.
  • Support to the development of partner projects.
  • Coaching of junior team members.
  • Representation of EASPD at meetings and events.

Job Requirements

Essential:
  • At least 4 years’ proven experience in project implementation, in particular under EU programmes.
  • 2 successfully completed transnational projects.
  • Oral and Written Fluency in English and at least one additional European language with a preference for Ukrainian and/or Russian.
  • Capacity to work in a team and to share your knowledge and expertise.
 Desired: 
  • Experience in coaching and/or mentoring
  • Knowledge of social services sector (e.g. childcare, social support for persons with disabilities, inclusive education, access to employment, access to justice, etc), in particular in the field of Early Childhood Intervention  
  • Knowledge of EU Social Policy (European Pillar of Social Rights, Social Inclusion)
Terms of the Contract
  • An 18 month fixed term contract.
  • The selected person must have a valid permit to work and live in the EU/Belgium.
  • The workstation is the EASPD headquarters in Brussels (BE). In normal time (outside of COVID rules), the work schedule is minimum 3 days in the office per week.
  • Contract 38 hours per week; remuneration at approximately €3.400 gross; additional €160 for workplace expenses/month and meal vouchers.
  • Starting date: approximately 19th September or as soon as possible.
