Share your experiences: How are global trends impacting local disability support services?

Disability service providers across Europe are facing a period of profound transformation. Rapid technological advancements, the escalating climate crisis, accelerating urbanisation, shifts in democratic processes, and significant changes in the workforce are no longer distant megatrends as they are influencing the day-to-day realities of organisations working in the disability sector.
A new research project is delving into how these global forces are impacting service providers on the ground. The study focuses on how organisations experience these developments and what kinds of support they feel are needed to continue delivering high-quality services amidst such change.
The research revolves around five megatrends:
- Technology
- Climate Change
- Urbanisation
- Changes in Democracy
- Workforce Changes
While discussions about megatrends often take place at a strategic or policy level, this research aims to bring the perspective of service providers themselves to the forefront. Understanding how these trends are felt in everyday operations will allow to shape effective responses at both organisational and sector levels.
A survey has been launched to gather insights directly from EASPD members. One response per organisation is requested. The questionnaire will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participants are encouraged to provide detailed responses.
The survey will remain open until 30 November 2025.
The findings from this research will not only inform a master’s thesis at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, but also serve as a valuable resource for EASPD and its members in planning strategies, advocacy, and support services in the years ahead.
