First meeting of the INCLUSIVE-PATH project: getting off on the right foot!

Learn about the new INCLUSIVE-PATH project, aiming to improve education options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are underrepresented in post-secondary education. To combat this inequality, the Erasmus+ INCLUSIVE-PATH project aims to improve educational options for this group or learners by addressing transitional challenges and enhancing educational support from providers.

INCLUSIVE-PATH (Continuing Education after Secondary School for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) seeks to identify the needs of educators and staff in secondary and post-secondary settings, and develop effective supports for learners with IDD.

EASPD is coordinating the project, alongside six partners: the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), Out of the Box (OtB), Katholiek Onderwijs Vlaanderen (KathOndVla), PH Salzburg, Amicos, and Emphasys.

The project partners met for their first in-person meeting on 3-4 February, hosted by PH Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria. At this meeting, partners discussed the next whole trajectory of the project, spending additional time on the first activities of the project. These include hosting national-level focus groups and developing accompanying country reports, to ensure the upcoming resources meet the needs of adults with IDD and those supporting them.

INCLUSIVE-PATH marks a significant step toward creating accessible learning opportunities for all. The partnership of disability service providers, educational institutions, and European-level advocacy organisations, will collaborate to create real improvements in educational opportunities for persons with IDD.
