European Social Services Awards 2024: spotlighting excellence in social services
Social services play a crucial role in providing support to individuals, families and communities, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged ones, and therefore are central to creating inclusive societies.
To spotlight successful new approaches and the ongoing work of public social services, the European Social Network (ESN) is organising the European Social Services Awards (ESSA) annually. This year, the ceremony will take place on 4 November in Lisbon, and it will also serve as a platform to share knowledge and encourage mutual learning to improve social work policies and practices across Europe.
This year, two EASPD Members’ initiatives have made the shortlist in two different categories.
- Category: Service Delivery
This Award honours social services programmes that foster social inclusion in the community, ensuring that persons in vulnerable situations are supported and fully included, responding to their unique needs and preferences.
Nominee: Ability@Work - Cope Foundation, Ireland
- Category: Excellence in Communities
The Award celebrates organisations that are building inclusive and resilient neighbourhoods and communities, ensuring that all residents’ rights, choices and independence are valued and respected.
Nominee: Laying the Foundations for a Personal Budgets System - Aġenzija Sapport, Malta
The theme of the 2024 Awards is Promoting Inclusive Communities, and it celebrates the creation of inclusive communities where people can be fully involved in their spaces, places, activities and events regardless of age, ability, income or background.
