EASPD's insights on the European Child Guarantee

This second set of factsheets summarises National Action Plans under the EU Child Guarantee in northern countries.

On 24 January, the International Day of Education, EASPD launched a series of publications on the implementation of the European Child Guarantee.

This series will present all 27 EU Member States’ efforts to break the cycle of poverty and social exclusion for children in need. Published by regional area, the factsheets will present key information and measures from EU Member States targeting children with disabilities, children with mental health issues, and those in institutional-based alternative care. Specifically, each factsheet provides the following information:

  • Key data and figures on these children.
  • An overview of the main challenges they face.
  • A summary of the objectives and key targets set up.
  • The list of measures and specific actions ongoing, planned, or adopted to improve the situation of these children.

Today’s release focuses on Northern countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden.

By going through these short resources, you will learn about Latvia’s favourable housing legislation for families with a child with a disability. Moreover, you'll explore Lithuania and Sweden’s efforts to make culture, art, and leisure activities accessible for all children, as well as Estonia’s recent key reforms to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities, including children.

You can find all the factsheet already published here.

Stay tuned for the next series! We'll cover Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
