Building a digitally ready health workforce: DDS-MAP Conference wraps up in Brussels

The DDS Map project brought together healthcare professionals, policy makers, researchers, and digital learning experts from across Europe to celebrate the achievements and impact of the project.
The discussions highlighted the need for institutional actions on the following areas to enhance our healthcare space:
Cybersecurity: As digital threats grow, protecting patient data through stronger digital literacy is critical across all roles in the healthcare ecosystem.
Lifelong Learning: Digital skills must be part of continuous professional development, especially for senior staff.
EU-Wide Standards: A harmonised European framework and flexible micro-credentials are key to closing the digital skills gap.
At the event, we also discussed a Pan-European Micro-Credentials Framework, emphasising the need for standardised, verifiable, and stackable training pathways for medical and allied professionals. Speakers highlighted the importance of aligning micro-credentials with national qualification systems and ensuring their recognition by professional bodies. The session called for stronger cross-border collaboration to promote quality assurance and the portability of digital skills across the EU health workforce.
