AutismFIT kicks off!
Before summer, the AutismFIT partnership, comprised of six partners from across Europe, met online for their project kick-off meeting. AutismFIT aims to promote the physical and mental well-being of young persons (aged 13-18) with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It will promote healthy and balanced eating habits through Virtual Reality simulations and a custom-made game library based on the use of everyday objects. Its main objective is to empower, engage and connect young people with autism through skill development and promotion of healthy eating habits. It also aims to improve the skills and digital abilities of youth workers, volunteers, and trainers (such as social workers, educators, physical instructors, and clinical dieticians) through a validated training programme which will help them better support young people with autism using innovative non-formal methods and digital tools, both online and offline.
During the meeting, partners discussed the plan to start implementing various tasks planned for the first year notably the work on focus groups and the collection of resources. Young people with intellectual disabilities and their teacher,s and youth advocates from Portugal, Italy, Cyprus, Germany will soon take part in various online and offline activities. Stay tuned for updates.
