EASPD Policy Café on Intersectionality: The role of support services in addressing disability, gender and overlapping discriminations

Join this Policy Café to learn about the issue of intersectionality, specifically in disability services.

At the heart of inclusive disability services lies the recognition that individuals face multiple and overlapping discriminations and barriers. To raise awareness on this critical issue, EASPD is organising a Policy Café on intersectionality.

Intersectionality is often hard to grasp as a concept. Beyond discussing it in theory, applying it to the daily workflow of disability service providers requires a shared understanding as well as specific tools.

During this session, we will:

  • Introduce the core principles of intersectionality and clarify what it means, specifically for disability service providers.
  • Review real-world examples demonstrating how intersecting forms of discrimination shape the experiences of people with disabilities in various contexts.
  • Give space to an open dialogue to exchange experiences, challenges, and successful strategies for intersectional support.
  • Contribute directly to the EASPD Secretariat’s ongoing work on a comprehensive policy paper regarding intersectionality.
Who should attend?

This event is designed for all EASPD members who are committed to making their services more inclusive and responsive to the uniqueness of everyone they support.
