EASPD advocates for a stronger European Child Guarantee and tackling housing exclusion

In May, the European Commission will launch three key inclusion initiatives. EASPD has been working to shape these policies.

In early May, the European Commission will release three initiatives with transformative potential for people with disabilities and their support networks: the Anti-Poverty Strategy, a Proposal for a Council Recommendation on Combating Social Housing Exclusion, and a Strengthened European Child Guarantee.

EASPD has been at the forefront of shaping these policies.

Last year, we contributed to the Anti-Poverty Strategy, advocating for quality support as the cornerstone of inclusion, from early childhood to later in life.

More recently, we have engaged with the European Commission’s public consultations on the European Child Guarantee and housing initiatives. Our advocacy ensures that the unique needs of people with disabilities and their families are not just recognised but centrally embedded in these policies, ensuring no one if left behind.

Together, these initiatives are an opportunity to recognise and strengthen the role of disability support services to promote equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, enhance societal well-being and cohesion and drive prosperity across Europe.
