Celebrating inclusive volunteering across Europe

When volunteering is inclusive, everyone benefits. The commitment of young people, partners, mentors and local communities for the Be a Volunteer! project has laid foundations for more accessible and inclusive volunteering across Europe.
This month, the project comes to a conclusion. Its fifth and final newsletter brings together stories, experiences and results from all partner countries, highlighting how powerful inclusive volunteering can be for young people with disabilities across Europe.
Throughout the project, young people with disabilities were supported to develop transversal skills such as teamwork, responsibility and adaptability, while volunteering coordinators were equipped with tools to create more inclusive opportunities. Together, these efforts helped strengthen employability and encourage active participation.
The newsletter showcases a wide range of volunteering activities that took place in Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Spain, as well as networking activities and a final international event in Budapest that helped share results, strengthen partnerships and encourage the continuation of inclusive volunteering practices beyond the project’s lifetime.
About the project
The Be a Volunteer! project aims to develop and strengthen the skills of young people (aged 16-30) with disabilities, enhancing their employability and active social participation focusing on volunteer activities.
The project will utilise non-formal educational methods for the training of young individuals, with an emphasis on experiential learning. Throughout the project, skill-building programmes will be designed and used to support volunteering coordinators and people with disabilities to participate in inclusive volunteering activities.
