Beyond Digits Project kicks off to promote financial literary education for individuals who are neurodivergent

On 31 October the Beyond Digits project officially launched with a kick-off meeting in Lithuania.

On 31 October the Beyond Digits project officially launched with an in-person meeting in Lithuania. Funded by Erasmus+, the project aims to promote financial literacy among neurodivergent adults, equipping them with essential money management skills to promote independence and well-being.

Financial literacy—defined as the knowledge and skills to make informed money decisions—is crucial for anyone seeking economic stability and active participation in their community. However, many adults who are neurodivergent face challenges accessing financial education tailored to their unique learning needs. Beyond Digits seeks to bridge this gap by creating accessible, inclusive financial training materials designed specifically for adults who are neurodivergent.

Over the next two years the project Beyond Digits will:

  1. Remove barriers in adult education.
  2. Enhance financial literacy for people who are neurodivergent.
  3. Develop quality, effective, and free tools for educators and make them freely available.
  4. Equip professionals with enhanced digital skills for teaching financial literacy.

To achieve these goals, Beyond Digits will develop a comprehensive Training Toolkit. This will include materials including a mobile app, an educational digital game, and non-digital learning resources. Additionally, the project will produce a manual for using these digital tools, offering guidance on relevant digital competencies. A handbook for professionals will further detail best practices in using these resources with DD/ID learners.

To support professionals working with neurodivergent adults, Beyond Digits will also provide training for educators on implementing these digital tools effectively. This training will empower professionals to integrate financial literacy into their curricula, fostering a more inclusive educational environment.

This two-year project, running from October 2024 to October 2026, is a collaborative effort coordinated by E.Psy.Me. (Ploes) from Greece. Partner organisations include Omega Technology (Greece), CEFE Macedonia Skopje (North Macedonia), Jaunuolių Dienos Centras (Lithuania), PRISMS (Malta), Kompetenznetzwerk IT zur Förderung der Integration von Menschen mit Behinderungen (Austria), and the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) in Brussels.
