The 34th Alzheimer Europe Conference (34AEC) calls for abstracts!
As life expectancy in Europe continues to rise, so does the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease, with age being the predominant risk factor. This year marks the 34th Alzheimer Europe Conference (34AEC), held in Geneva from 8 to 10 October 2024. Organised as a collaboration between Alzheimer Europe, Alzheimer Scweiz Suisse Svizzera and Alzheimer Genève, the conference returns to Switzerland for the first time since 1998 with the motto “New horizons – Innovating for dementia”.
Projections indicate that the number of people living with dementia in Europe will nearly double by 2050, yet there are encouraging developments in treatments and diagnostics. Notably, there has been a reduction in Alzheimer’s prevalence across most age groups compared to estimates from 2008.
To sustain this progress, it is important to have places where experts can meet and exchange ideas, expertise and next steps. 34AEC hopes to bring together not only people living with dementia and their families and carers, but also policy makers, social care professionals, researchers, academics and industry representatives from all over Europe.
The conference aims to create a space for open exchange of ideas, projects, experiences and research. It will cover the latest developments in the field, and share new opportunities in dementia care, treatment, research, policy and management.

Call for abstracts!
In light of the upcoming conference, Alzheimer Europe, Alzheimer Schweiz Suisse Svizzera and Alzheimer Genève announce a call for abstracts!
They invite researchers, professionals, caregivers, individuals living with dementia, policymakers, and advocates to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations on a range of topics crucial to addressing the challenges and opportunities in dementia care and research.
The call for abstracts is open on the following themes:
- Innovation in Care and Research
- Living with Dementia
- Patient Pathways
- Policy
- Inclusion and Intersectionality
Abstract submissions should align with these themes and contribute to the dialogue on advancing dementia care, research, and policy across Europe.
