Exchange Mobility Project: how to promote European mobility for students with disabilities

Mobility offers young people opportunities for self-development and enhances their future employability. Participation in exchange programmes is a challenge for young people, as they are facing an unfamiliar environment, such as a new language and culture. It can be even more difficult for students with disabilities who may face inaccessible environments or disability-related stereotypes. In recognition of such challenges, Erasmus Student Network (ESN) developed the ExchangeAbility project to make our organisation accessible and to help remove obstacles to enhance participation in exchange programmes.

“ERGO WORK – Joining academia and business for new opportunities in creating ERGOnomic WORK places”

ERGO WORK is a European project conducted under the Lifelong Learning Programme. The consortium involves 10 partners from Slovenia, Poland, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Belgium (EASPD). During its lifetime, the project will be seeking to improve the ergonomic design of jobs and workplaces for people with disabilities. It will promote Knowledge, Skills and “Social Cohesion” in order to create Reasonable Accommodation at work for all employees, including persons with disabilities.

First PUSH Europe Workshop: “Integrated housing and services for people with support needs”

The aim of PUSH Europe is to support and deliver positive outcomes for vulnerable people through practical exchange on the integration of services and housing. To this end, it brings together European support and housing practitioners who deliver affordable housing with support for vulnerable people. On 6 May 2014, an interactive PUSH Europe workshop will be organised in Brussels.

Austrian students of Social Work visit EASPD to deepen understanding of EU social policy

The European Association of Services Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) welcomed from 24 to 25 of April, a group of students of Social Work from the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences. The need to reinforce European Civil Dialogue and to better involve EU civil society’s organisations in the European Semester’s work were some of the main issues discussed.

The successful integration of housing and social services enables people with support needs to live independently and be included in society. It is thus one of the most important challenges and responsibilities of service providers and authorities across Europe. This conference will focus on one of the most pressing issues in European politics.

EASPD Brussels June Events 2014

The EASPD is organising a series of events on the employment of persons with disabilities which will take place on the 18th, 19th and 20th of June 2014 in Brussels. There are two events that are open to all: the Project Development Workshop is a half day event where info is provided on relevant EU funding opportunities and where project ideas and partnerships are discussed in working groups; the project seminar "Current challenges for service providers in the disability sector: Person-centered approaches and good practice models" will present the research and results of three 2-year projects and whose results can be a strong tool to improve the full inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
