Training on personal budgeting

Kehitysvammaliitto is organising a training event on 15 February 2018 in Helsinki, Finland.  The event will be on personal budgeting in one's home country. Together with several other Finnish experts, Christy Lynch will be there to share his research on allocating and redistributing financial assets in individual budgets in different countries. 

The event will be conducted in Finnish.

European seminar: CHOOSING YOUR LIFE - De-I best practices in Europe and France

Our member, Centre de la Gabrielle will be organising a European seminar on 20 March 2018 from 9am to 5pm in Paris, France.  The event will take place at 255 Rue de Vaugirard, Paris.

The seminar aims to question issues (ethical, legal etc.) of deinstitutionalisation as well as showcase existing best practices in Europe and in France around the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Various actors in the field of disability in France and in Europe will be present.

New measures to boost key competences and digital skills, as well as the European dimension of education

To follow up on the Gothenburg Summit, the European Commission has today adopted new initiatives to improve key competences and digital skills of European citizens, to promote common values and pupils' awareness of the functioning of the European Union.

The new proposals come only two months after European Heads of State and Government discussed education, training and culture at the Gothenburg Summit in November 2017. They are intended to reduce socio-economic inequalities, whilst sustaining competitiveness in order to build a more united, stronger and more democratic Europe.

European project provides important recommendations on the role of learning and support assistants for persons with disabilities

The IMAS Project released a report on the "role of learning and support assistants in inclusive education” in December 2017. The report recommends actions to align the current situation with an ideal situation, where learning and support assistants have the tools and autonomy to fully support the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
