The ACCESS Project: Creating opportunities in Information Technologies (IT) and foreign language for persons with intellectual disabilities


The world of business and commerce is rapidly changing. Computer and foreign language skills have become basic requirements in major fields of employment. In several European countries, skills such as foreign languages, Information Technologies (IT) and their related safety issues are absent from the systems that provide special courses for persons with intellectual disabilities. Thus, these individuals remain largely excluded from digital society. This creates serious consequences for their lifelong learning and their employment prospects.

Commission welcomes Member States’ agreement on the European Accessibility Act


On 7 December, Member States agreed on their position on the European Accessibility Act agreement at the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumers Council.   The Accessibility Act, which was proposed in 2015 has the potential to set common accessibility requirements for certain key products and services that will help people with disabilities.
