Zero Project Shortlists 140 Practices and 34 Policies From 62 Countries

The Zero Project researches the status of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) around the world.

Zero Project has received more than 371 nominations from 76 countries worldwide with 140 nominations for Innovative Practices and 34 for Innovative Policies from across 62 countries in its first round of shortlisting. Its focus this year is on the topic of accessibility. These nominations meet its three most important criteria: Innovation, Impact and Stability.

Call for Innovative Practices: 140 Shortlisted Nominations

These nominations came from 50 countries, with 55 from Europe, 41 from Asia, 25 from North America, 10 from Latin America and 9 from Africa. The countries with the highest number of shortlisted practices are United States of America (20), Israel (10), Austria (11), India (8) Spain (7) and Italy (7).

Call for Innovative Policies: 34 Shortlisted Nominations

These nominations came from 34 countries, with 15 from Europe, 7 from Latin America, 4 from Asia, 4 from North America, 3 from Africa and 1 from Oceania. The countries with the most shortlisted nominations for Innovative Policies are Spain (5), Canada (4) and Belgium (3).

Next Steps in the Selection Process

More than 3000 experts from across the globe will decide upon the final selection of Innovative Practices and Policies 2018. Its mission is to award a total of 50 to 70 Innovative Practices and 10 to 15 Innovative Policies at the Zero Project Conference held in February 2018 at the UN Vienna.
