EASPD congratulates the European Disability Forum on its anniversary and the success of the celebrations that took place from 12th to 14th May in Madrid.
The title of the conference was '20 years later: Building an inclusive disability movement for the future’ and the conference focused on "recalling recall the great achievements of the disability movement".
A number of important decisions were made: EDF's Madrid Declaration was adopted, showing "the vision of the disability movement and a plan for action for the rights of persons with disabilities in the coming years"; resolutions on reinforcing the need for a strong Accessibility Act and on the Marrakesh Treaty were adopted; a report on forced sterilization was also presented.
EASPD was represented at the event by our President, James Crowe.
