13th March saw the first launch of the first EURECO Forum, which aims to support more innovative research on inclusive community development, through collaboration between service providers, researchers and persons with disabilities.
The European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) launches its report: ‘The European Semester and Social Investment: Addressing the funding gap in social services,’ to support the an increase in funding into the sector.
The European Elections are taking place over the next few days throughout Europe. This is a key opportunity for each and every citizen to help format the future of the European Union. For that reason, EASPD wishes to encourage everyone to go and vote in the next European elections to make sure that we have a European Parliament and Commission, which will support the work of social service providers throughout Europe.
Following Van Rompuy’s proposals in December, the European Council will debate in June the Commission’s proposals for a social dimension to the EMU. As the EU enters its 5th year of crisis, the EU’s image is overwhelmingly identified with austerity, particularly in countries under the ‘Troika arrangements’.
