WHO IS EASPD?

EASPD is the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities
|

|
EASPD started in 1996.
|
|
|
It speaks for more than 8,000 services for people with disabilities in Europe.
|
|
|
EASPD wants people with disabilities
|
|
|
to have equal opportunities, to be part of society.
|
|
|
Service Providers can help this happen.
|
|
|
EASPD gives Service Providers a voice in Europe.

Service Providers are organisations.
|
|
|
Their job is to:
Help people with disabilities.
|
|
|
Help them the way they want.
|
|
|
WHAT DO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WANT FROM SERVICE PROVIDERS?
|
|
|
They need them to listen what they want.
This means being adaptable.
|
|
|
They need support which is always there.
This means being available.
They need support which is easy to use.
This means being accessible.
|
|
|
These services should be free or not cost too much.
This means being affordable.
|
|
|
People with disabilities need services which are good quality.
|
|
 
|
This means having enough staff.
This means having good staff.
|
|
|
- Who have good training.
|
|
|
-Who know how to listen.
|
|
|
EASPD speaks for Service Providers in Europe.
|
|
|
EASPD has many members from many countries.
|
|
 
|
EASPD talks to the people who make European laws and policies.
|
|
|
EASPD talks to:
- The European Commission
- The European Parliament
- The Council of Europe.
|
|
|
These laws and policies are very important to people with disabilities.
They need to be the right ones.
EASPD tells the people who make laws and policies what we think.
|

|
This helps them make the right laws.
This helps them make the right policies.
This is called IMPACT.

|

We also tell our members what is happening in Europe.
Then they can do their job better.
This is called INFORMATION.

|
We also try new ways to support people with disabilities.
We want to do things better.
This is called INNOVATION.

|
We do all these things
-with people with disabilities.
-with their families.
|
|
|
-with organisations who can speak for them.
-with organisations who want to make things better.
|
|
 
|
When we work together
-we have good ideas.
|
|
|
-more people will listen to us.
|
|
|
-people with disabilities will have better lives.
|
|
|
